South Kintore BESS

A new battery energy storage system (BESS) is being proposed by partners Field and RE Projects Development Ltd (REPD) on land at Womblehill, Kintore, AB51 0XJ.

South Kintore BESS will be able to store and release energy from the electricity network. It will have a storage capacity of up to 200 megawatts (MW) and provide energy security to the local grid during times of peak demand.

South Kintore BESS will offer energy security benefits, biodiversity and landscaping enhancements. Our technical team includes ecology, landscape and visual, noise, planning, and transport specialists who are helping us to design a sensitive and sustainable development.

We are in the early stages of the planning and design process. We expect to submit the pre-application in Q4 of 2024 and the full planning application in Q1 of 2025.
